Very Busy Summer

Wow what a very busy summer with plenty of new adventures.

Where did I leave off??? Oh yes, family camping trip.

Over the fourth of July weekend we decided to camp at Kathio State Park on the Rum River in Onamia, MN. Out side of extreme heat, large amounts of horse flys and the mosquito's we had a blast. Our trip started out with checking in. Ha! That was fun. So we check in and get our site, we head to the site and start setting up. While we were setting up the tent we realized that the tent pad was too small for our huge 10 person tent.

While John jumped in the van to go back to the office to see if we can be switched to another site, the park ranger comes through. After explaining the situation and requesting to be moved, he explains that all he has open is the horse campground. After being reassured that no one was going to be camping there as well we decided to take the offer extended to us and moved to the horse campground.

All in all it turned out to be better for us. The boys had a parking lot to themselves to ride their bikes, the dog could bark at anything and everything, and we could be as loud as we wanted to with out any one complaining.
One of our new adventures on this trip happened while we were fishing. Trey, Tyler and daddy were fishing from the dock. Our friend Charlie was on one side of the shore fishing off land and I was on the other side fishing off the land.

Trey starts yelling " I got one! I got one!" As he is reeling in we quickly realize that he caught a baby snapping turtle. Charlie is reeling in to go help John, I am yelling at Tyler to go to the van and grab my phone so I can take a picture.

So while the guys are dealing with this and I am reeling in my line so I can take a picture, my line catches on something. I continued to reel in my line and it's getting harder to bring closer to shore. I thought that I caught some weeds so I grab my pole and just start to drag it over to where John or Charlie could get it untangled. Ha! Weeds it was not, here I ended up snagging a nice size northern, my biggest catch of the year so far.

Spring and Summer adventures and adventures to come

Wow, we have been so busy on our little adventures that I have not been able to share them with you....

The second half of the school year was a rough one for our family. To make a long story short it was the School district Vs. the parents. I think it's safe to say that the parents won and great education was given to both our children. The school year has wrapped up and it's just hard to believe that we now have a fourth grader and a kindergartner on our hands.

Our family would like to extend a huge thank you to this women pictured with Trey. Through our difficulties and battles with the school district this second half of the school year Ms. Jess has been a huge help. Ms. Jess was able to maintain a one on one envirment where Trey could continue to be in school and learn while he was working on some of his down falls. Out side of the normal preschool learning, Ms. Jess was able to help Trey continue to communicate on his off days instead of shutting down and hitting and kicking. Ms. Jess has taught us as parents when it's the right time to be assertive, the right time to be patient and the right time to just walk away. Most of you are thinking that this is common sense stuff when raising children, how ever it's very different and at times difficult while raising special needs kids.

Our next adventure with our kids was our first family vacation. We went to Edge Water Resort for Tyler's birthday. The kids had a blast and all in all so did we.

We have already been to the cabin once this year. We had so much fun! I can't believe how much I learned about myself and my boys that weekend. Enjoy some of the pictures from that weekend!

The next adventure is for me. I chose to head coach Trey's 5 year old T-BALL team. I can honestly say that this year of coaching for me has been a blast but also torture all at once. I have learned to be way more patient than I ever have, and to just let go and have fun. I hope to do it again next year.

All and all our summer is off to a great start. We are extremely busy but loving every minuet of it.  Our little adventures continue and I hope to remember to write about them. We have on deck for our adventures another camping trip, first time at boy scout camp (I don't know who is more excited, daddy or Tyler) Huff N Puff and Heritage Days.  Hope every one has a safe and fun summer.

Until the next adventure....
